Mrs. Tara Burgess

Tara Burgess has been in public education for 26 years.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development (with a specialization in mathematics) from The University of Texas Austin and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas Arlington.  

Mrs. Burgess' years in education started with teaching middle school math for 2 years in Burnet, Texas. From there, she found herself at Leander ISD, where I taught middle school math for 11 years and AVID for 6 years.  Mrs. Burgess came to Hutto ISD in 2015 as an instructional coach at Farley MS and continued on to be an assistant principal there.  Recently, she moved to the Ninth Grade Center as an assistant principal. 
 
Mrs. Burgess states, "I believe my place in the education field is a true calling and l enjoy working with students and teachers. I have a passion for student and teacher growth and look forward to being a part of the process to make Hutto the premier choice in education as they push themselves to perform Above the Line."

Mrs. Veronica Mackey-Peoples

Mrs. Veronica Mackey-Peoples comes to the 9th Grade Center with over 25 years of experience in education, and has served Hutto ISD since 2021 at Hutto Middle School as an 8th grade ELA teacher.  Prior to answering the call to serve HippoNation, Mrs. Mackey-Peoples worked in Round Rock for 17 years teaching various subjects, including English II.  In this time, she also worked at various secondary campuses, including the DAEP and Alternative campus.  Prior to her time in Round Rock, Mrs. Mackey-Peoples served in San Marcos as an educational aide, teacher, and coach at both the elementary and middle school levels.

Mrs. Mackey-Peoples earned her Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University and her Master's of Education in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.  In addition to her principal certificate, Mrs. Mackey-Peoples is also certified in Physical Education, Health, Speech, ELA, ESL, and Generalist (EC-4).

Mrs. Mackey-Peoples states, "I am blessed and excited with the opportunity to join the NGC as an assistant principal.  I look forward to a great year in which our students and staff choose to perform Above the Line!"
